Description
South African Airways (SAA) is inviting skilled pilots to join the SAA family as a First Officer. This is a great opportunity to be part of a prestigious airline, ensuring safe and exceptional flight operations while advancing your aviation career.
As a First Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the flight at all times, both on the ground and in the air. You will perform the duties of a pilot for South African Airways, serving as either a Second-In-Command Pilot (P2) or Cruise Relief Pilot (P3), adhering to all operational and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Matric Certificate / Grade 12 results / N3 or relevant tertiary qualifications (SAQA accredited)
- Compulsory subjects: Mathematics or Statistics 101 and English (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade), along with one of the following: Physical Science or Computer Science (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade)
- Valid South African Airline Transport Pilot’s License or a Commercial Pilot License with all ATPL ground subjects completed (previously known as a Frozen ATPL); a valid ATPL must be obtained within four years of employment
- Multi-engine instrument rating
- Valid Class 1 medical certification
- Minimum of 1,500 flying hours, including 200 hours on multi-engine aircraft
- South African citizenship with a valid passport
Expertise & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of safety standards and safe operating practices
- In-depth knowledge of national and international aviation regulations, including CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA
- Comprehensive understanding of international travel, customs, and practices
- Familiarity with legal regulations governing piloting and aviation in South Africa and internationally
- Proficient in business communication (verbal and written)
