Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
Media monitoring and daily delivery of media newsletter to key internal stakeholders
Timely and proactive reporting and analytics on major events, proactive and reactive media strategies
Media list and inquiry management
Drafting of media statements, news releases and newsroom updates
Creative storytelling and editorial support for WestJet's Newsroom and external channels
Internal stakeholder amplification of external news and updates
Job Requirements
A combination of 1-3 years of experience in public and media relations or communications
Understanding of Canada's media landscape and experience communicating with, and pitching story ideas to reporters and news outlets would be an asset
Familiarity working with Meltwater's media monitoring platform or similar media software
Experience writing and drafting news content and updates for social media channels specifically, Twitter and LinkedIn
Experience drafting news releases and statements
Constant awareness of current media trends on a national and global scale
Superior organization and planning skills
Demonstrated experience working on deadlines and tight timelines
Experience with graphic design, photography and video always considered an asset
French language capabilities always considered an asset
Bachelor's Degree, with a focus in Public Relations, Communications or Journalism is required
