Job Description
Plan ahead of the flight so as to ascertain that requisite arrangements have been made at stations, and to accompany the aircraft, or travel upfront to other online/offline stations, when performing charter/scheduled operations, in order to ensu re all ground operational activity takes place in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with Emirates/Airports standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Plan ahead of the flight to ensu re all ground handling arrangements are in place and ensu re all information related to the ground handling agent, airport and load specification is obtained. Ensu re that the Load is built up in accordance with the Emirates Standards meeting all safety requirements.
Supervise the Ground Handling Agent (GHA) to ensu re that load optimization and loading efficiency is achieved taking into consideration requirements for all special cargo. Prepare the loading instruction report and issu e to GHA in a timely manner so that the aircraft loading can commence. Ensu re that the aircraft is unloaded in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure at all times, that the handling of time and temperature and pharmaceutical shipments demonstrates compliance to the European Union Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP) requirements.
Responsible for preparing the aircraft weight and balance, trim sheet and su bmit to the Pilot in command. Issu e aircraft loading and unloading instructions and ensure that General Declaration, flight plan and weather reports are obtained from the Ground Handling Agent and concerned authorities.
Accountable for the punctuality of all flights and to ensu re that an acceptable level of on-time departures is achieved. Liaise with crew/crew hotel in the event of expected delay so as to ensu re crew calls are delayed so as not to impact crew duty time limitation.
Maintain close contacts with Ground Handling Agents, Line Maintenance Engineers, and Local Airport Authorities, Network Control Center etc to ensu re that the highest levels of Customer Service are consistently delivered.
Assess serviceability of aircraft loading systems/equipment and liaise with Engineering for rectification as well as determine operational restrictions and limitations until systems are rectified.
In the event of accompanying grooms, ensure all grooms are listed and approved for the flight and that their identities are checked prior to boarding the aircraft. Liaise with the grooms and crew for optimal loading positions for special loads.
Accountable for carrying out the security search of the main deck cargo compartment to ensure that nothing has been placed that would jeopardize the safety of the aircraft. Ensure that all Aircraft Pre-Flight Security and preparation are carried as laid down in the Flight Operations Manual.
Carry out Dangerous goods inspections related to aircraft loading and also deal with any DG related incidents related to flight and handling while the aircraft is on Ground. Ensu re necessary Permits and paper work accompany special types of cargo su ch as AVI and Dangerous Goods that require special clearance to avoid problems at destinat ions and transit stations.
Perform other operational tasks as assigned by the local Cargo Manager, if and when not interfering with the core freighter operational role, such as but not limited to:
Guiding/monitoring/coaching GHA staff
Supervising the GHA warehouse built-up process (cargo units for both pax and freighter flights)
Maintaining operational updates in SkyChain
Planing/arranging crew HOTAC and catering
Evaluating special load requests (HEA/BIG/ODD)
Job Requirements
5 years experience in Cargo/Airline/Ground handling in all areas in a major internaional airport.
Should have completed Load Planning, Loading Supervision, Dangerous Goods Acceptance, Aircraft Loading and Handling Training, Human Factors, Aviation Security, SMS, Airside Safety and Special Cargo Handling including IATA LAR/PER. Good Knowledge of Local and Internat ional Customs, Immigration and Security Regulations.
Ability to demonstrable high level of knowledge and competence in Good Distribution Practice (GDP) acquired through experience and training.
Proven ability to work independently with minimum amount of su pervision and strong communication skills in both written and spoken skills. Good interpersonal skills and should be able to work under pressure
