    Reporting to the Head of Global PR, the role of Senior Social Media Manager is a new role at British Airways. The role will be held by an outstanding communications practitioner and social media expert who can bring an extensive knowledge and experience to help deliver a new social media strategy to strengthen the British Airways brand.

    The successful candidate will develop and implement the brand’s new social media strategy and manage a newsroom-style social media hub which will oversee the day-to-day running of British Airways’ main social media channels across the full suite of consumer and business social media channels globally.

    While the role reports to the Head of Global PR there is an already established link to other social media stakeholders within the business including Marketing (paid media and content production), Customer Engagement and Customer Relations. The role is also responsible for supporting the other members of the External Communications team on their brand engagement work and ensuring successful proactive and reactive social media management for issues and crisis communication.

    A key responsibility of the successful candidate will be to manage and embed a new organisational team which will include two Social Media Executives and a Social Media Assistant responsible for the deployment of marketing campaigns/campaign management, social media monitoring, data and analytics, news and PR, community management. As such you will be a proven team leader and team player, and you will have ambition both within the social media ecosystem, in brand communications and in business per se.

    Our aim is to appoint a passionate social media expert to help establish a new and effective model for social media for British Airways and create a working environment that enables collaboration across key departments including external communications, marketing, customer engagement and colleague engagement.
