Responsible for safely providing maintenance and repair to all WestJet training devices. Simulator Technician Apprentices ensure that all training devices meet or exceed Transport Canada qualification standards while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Work effectively with strong communication and listening skills
Responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and inspections on all training devices
Responsible for problem solving, diagnosing, debugging and troubleshooting of both hardware and software issues originating from the Flight Training devices
Monitor maintenance practices, procedures and open discrepancies to ensure timely resolutions
Complete accurate and detailed recording of issues and daily activities
Identify, research and submit requests for required parts
Complete daily operational testing of training devices
Must be able to complete an in-house Apprenticeship program within the required time lines.
Develop strong, open and honest working relationships
Provide superior customer service to internal and external guests.
Maintain a clean and safe workplace for all users
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager Simulator Technical Services
Job Requirements
Completion of a relevant Technical Post-Secondary degree is a requirement
Experience in Simulator maintenance and repair or equivalent technical work experience is an asset
CAE, Flight Safety and L3 Simulator experience is an asset
Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Intermediate ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
Advanced knowledge of computers, operating systems and software (AIX, CentOS, Windows XP, Windows 2000, MS Office)
Advanced knowledge of aircraft systems, avionics and theory of flight
Intermediate knowledge of computer networking including Ethernet, 1394, USB, PCI busses, virtual LAN drives, DHCP, and terminal services
Intermediate knowledge of hydraulic theory and systems
Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical theory
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to work day and night shifts 24h/7d/365y
Able to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, and climb repetitively
