Job Description
The Flight Standards Specialist has a primary responsibility to ensure compliance with authorization requirements for the 600+ destination and alternate airports contained on the Air Canada Airport Classification List. The Flight Standards Specialist will also provide full support with the day to day operations of the Flight Standards group. This includes ensuring compliance with core operational policies relating to company, industry and regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Actively liaison with Performance Engineering and Flight Support to ensure compliance in the maintenance of the Airport Classification list at specified intervals.
Actively liaison with Performance Engineering during the Airport Authorization Process, either for new routes, or re-designation of routes between the mainline, low-cost or regional carriers to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory processes.
Manage the semi-annual revision to the Flight Operations Manual (FOM) in coordination with other Standards team members.
Act as a point of contact for queries to Standards (i.e. from Dispatch, Flight Technical, IFS);
Manage the research tasks associated with SMS/Quality audits;
Establish and maintain the Standards page on the Flight Operations Website;
Liaise and coordinate Standards Committee and Standards Pilot Meetings. Activities include booking venues for the meetings, and maintaining the agenda and minutes and tracking SCM (Standards Committee Meeting) and SPM (Standards Pilot Meeting) initiatives;
Participate in the production and maintenance of the Flight Operations Administration Process and Procedures Manual (FOAPPM);
Review and approve ATBs (Aircraft Technical Bulletins)
Job Requirements
Education: University entrance minimum, university or college diploma preferred.
Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (Parts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 and associated Commercial Air Services Standards), ISO, IOSA, FARs, and Star Alliance Best Practices is required.
Ability to communicate in both written and oral English at an advanced (University Degree equivalent) level.
Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, electronic mail efficiently.
Background in airline flight operations is an asset.
Must demonstrate high level of competency in areas of interpersonal skills, writing skills and organizational skills.
