    Job Description

    The Quality/Food Safety Coordinator enforces and monitors the compliance of established food safety and quality procedures to comply with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements. This position is to ensure food is received, stored, handled, and shipped following established standards. The Quality/Food Safety Coordinator is also responsible for performing sanitation and maintenance internal audits to make sure food is prepared in a clean and well-maintained facility.

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:


    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct daily kitchen walk-thru assessments and report any food safety and quality discrepancies

    • Enforce personal hygiene practices and all food safety programs

    • Perform sanitation and maintenance for food safety audits, document findings, open work orders, and follow up on corrective actions

    • Log daily HACCP records, review HACCP data for accuracy, and document deviations in HACCP deviation report

    • Assist to provide food safety training to front line employees

    • Perform environmental testing and other microbiological testing required

    • Prepare and send finished product samples for external laboratory analyses

    • Perform quality and food safety internal audits and generate documentation required to comply with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements

    • Assist Food Safety Manager during third-party audits and regulatory audits

    • Perform pre-operation inspections and validate cleaning doing ATP swabbing

    • Waste log product that does not meet quality or food safety standards and create waste log reports

    • Assist in implementing practices to prevent food borne illness, foreign object, and other customer complaints

    • Conduct specification checks of produced food items to confirm that they meet quality and weight requirements & match the gold standard

    • Liaise with the service provider technicians i.e. pest control technician, sanitation technician and uniform technician to ensure adherence to the contracts

    • Conduct calibration/verification checks on all equipment at the nominated frequencies. Address any issues that are identified through corrective action.

    • Create and review procedures as needed to ensure that they reflect current practice

    • Participate actively with Food Safety Action Team to improve engagement of frontline employees

    • Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area

    • Maintain a positive and cooperative work environment with other department’s employees

    • Perform any other activities and administrative duties assigned


    Job Requirements

    • High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) or education equivalent required

    • Strong reading and writing skills

    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel skills and the ability to create spreadsheets

    • Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently

    • Able to create memos and e-mail information in a professional manner

    • Strong interpersonal skills

    • Ability to work with a diversified work force

    • Excellent math skills

    • Able to handle multiple assignments

    • Planning and organizational

    • Excellent customer service, problem solving, and attention to detail

    • Must be at least 18 years of age

    • Must be willing and able to work under stringent time deadlines

    • Must be willing and able to work any shift in a 24/7 week, including weekends, nights and holidays

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

    • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

    • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

    • Must be willing and able to work in cold rooms and freezer room as needed for business. Temperature in cold rooms is always below 41F and

    • Freezer temperature is always below 10F

    • Preferred Qualifications

    • BS or Associates degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or a related field preferred

    • 2 years of experience as a Quality/Food Safety technician in catering operations or food manufacturing

    • ServSafe Manager Certification

    • Food Safety and HACCP knowledge

    • Microbiology knowledge

    • Experience performing internal audits

    • Knowledge of Inflight catering

    • Sanitation knowledge
